2. How These Scams Work

Refund scams typically unfold like this:

• Timing: You get a call months after your purchase, asking if you were satisfied with the service.
• Scam Offer: If you express dissatisfaction, the caller may offer you a refund. They might also claim the company is closing and issuing refunds.
• Fraudulent Requests: The scammer will then ask for your bank or credit card information or request access to your bank account to "deposit" the refund. Instead of giving you money, they will withdraw it from your account.

3. How to Protect Yourself
